Recapping 10/16 trades OPXA, IMMU, GS, NVAX, OGXI, MNKD, DPTR, ROYL

Today ended up with a small gain.  Last two days seems like frantic trading, but, there has been an overall plan.  This entire month, I thought earnings would not live up to expections, so, am mostly in stocks, bonds and little equities.  So far, AA, INTC, GOOG, JPM have impressed me and justified the runs.

That being said, if the stock market was going to march to 10k on the DOW, I decided that I was going to attack every piece of news that hit the wires or volume surge, that I thought would move a stock, thinking like the indexes, a big trade would be in one or two of these names, and would hit a home run.  It did not happen.  Not that I ended up losing much money, but, over the last 2 days have done over 14 trades, which is alot for me, and did not get much return.   I thought the overall idea of pressing on the index breakout was solid, so tried it for a couple days.  Anyway, going to return to ‘regular’, non frantic style of trading tomorrow, and back to the moto of less trading is best.  On to the trades, and going to group them:

IMMU, NVAX, OGXI, ROYL - all news driven trades.  NVAX was a analyst note that did not work out for small loss, OGXI was an analyst price target upgrade for small gain, IMMU was phase 2a detail that I liked but sold flat because did not run quick enough, and ROYL was a gas discover that I played small and made money.  None of these broke out, except for ROYL, but it was too thin to play in size so did not make much money of it.  You can see the above strategy on these names.

DPTR - bought on end of day volume, but, was nothing there, and sold for small loss.

OPXA - Solid thought here, briefing even mentioned it today, and sold into the briefing mention, as ACOR MS ‘play’.  Also a thin stock that could not go up in size very well.

GS short for flat at 190.  Money was in here, you can tell the name was tired, but wanted to apply the above strategy and wanted to stay away from shorting overall.

MNKD - 10k, 5.77, swing into tomorrow.  Name looks oversold to me, and tested prior days lows and pretty much held that level.  Going to sell name tomorrow, get back to cash end of day, reset, and get back to regular trading style.
